Stakeholders, comprised of people living with disabilities and/or their caregivers, nonprofit organizations, state lawmakers, state agencies, and others, are holding regular meetings to discuss the needs and challenges as Oklahoma works to fully transition to an Employment First model of employment.

DRTC is participating in these discussions in hopes of a comprehensive statewide plan that addresses the needs of Oklahomans living with disabilities.

What is Employment First?

Employment First means that employment in the general workforce should be the first and preferred option for individuals with disabilities receiving assistance from publicly-funded systems. Simply put, Employment First means real jobs for real wages.
