papamurphys_duoshot_72

“Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N’ Bake Pizza recently earned the highest marks for food, and exceptional scores for value, polite staff, and service speed among the pizza chains.”

DRTC Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N Bake Pizza offers you a variety of fresh ingredients, crusts, and gluten-free options for your dining experience. But . . . have you ever tried a Papa Murphy’s pizza? A few things you may like to know about our store and how easy it is to enjoy the Take N’ Bake experience:

How long does it take to bake a Papa Murphy’s pizza?
In a standard oven, your Papa Murphy’s pizza will take 12-15 minutes to bake properly. Papa Murphy’s stuffed pizza or calzone will take 25–30 minutes. This is the same amount of time it takes you to drive to a restaurant  or have a pizza delivered that has been made with frozen ingredients.

FRESH is BEST!
At DRTC Papa Murphy’s, we don’t have freezers! We make our dough from scratch daily, hand-slice our veggies and freshly-grate our 100% whole-milk mozzarella, provolone, and cheddar cheeses each morning. We believe in working only with suppliers who maintain our high product quality and food safety standards. It’s a difference you can taste.

Grilled Pizza?
Grilling your Papa Murphy’s pizza is one of the best ways to enjoy its great taste. By turning on grill every few minutes for about 20-30 minutes you can get a better, crispier tasting pizza.

How long will my pizza keep in the refrigerator?
For best results, always bake and eat your Papa Murphy’s pizza within 24 hours of purchase. And if you have leftover pizza it can be reheated.

What about EBT?
DRTC Papa Murphy’s gladly accepts EBT at our location, 2220 NW 23rd St.

Does Papa Murphy’s get involved with fundraising?
Papa Murphy’s offers a variety of fundraising options for organizations and groups like schools, churches, sports teams, Boy Scout or Girl Scout troops, and much more. Contact our manager at 405-601-6869.

My Heart’s Appeal Helps in Liberia with Food Supplies

MP900427809We all have watched the recent news about the Ebola crises unfolding in Africa and even feeling its effect here at home. Dale Rogers Training Center’s close associate My Heart’s Appeal has been involved in assisting the affected in Africa. The Ebola crisis has affected things like food. Food prices have risen by an average of 24 percent across the three countries worst hit by the Ebola outbreak. The food-producing regions of Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia in West Africa have been severely affected by the worst outbreak on record of the viral hemorrhagic fever that has killed 4,546 across the three countries. In the Liberian capital, Monrovia, prices of cassava and imported rice, the main staple food, have jumped by 30 percent. Aid workers in the crowded Monrovia neighborhood of Logan Town began distributing emergency rations of rice, bulgur wheat, peas and oil to around 1,000 residents.

My Heart’s Appeal has collected over 2½ tons of food and medical supplies and have shipped this donation to Liberia. The donated items will be given to one hundred My Heart’s Appeal families, staff and volunteers, arriving on time for the holiday season.

Helping individuals with disabilities in the Ebola-stricken West African city of Monrovia, Liberia is closer than you might imagine. We are pleased to announce that My Heart’s Appeal (MHA) and the Dale Rogers Training Center (DRTC) are joining hands to inform, embrace and impact the life-giving needs of this battered but brave community.

Celebrating its third annual fundraiser, My Heart’s Appeal is hosting a colorful evening of food, friendship, information and fundraising complete with Gallery Walk, Silent Auction, Interactive Cultural exchanges and Door Prizes.

The Vocational Services Program and Special Needs Program are super busy this month. We are completing a big order for Sela that includes packaging appliance cords, hoses, and/or accessories. Plus, we are placing Steri Fab cleaner into individual shippers for the same company. We also received another shipment of books for Scholastic – we place a price sticker on the front of the books that are sold at their Book Fairs.

Bringing You Something “Special” This Season!

Dale Rogers Training Center is committed to promoting the abilities of our individuals in their efforts to live as independently as possible and contribute to the community. DRTC also celebrates the efforts of others in this country and abroad who are trying to do the same. We recently became aware of an online docu-soap series called “The Specials”. This show follows the lives of a group house of young adults with learning difficulties who, like us, are doing their best in day-to-day society to work, live, laugh, and find love. This post includes a link to the website and video for you to view. Let us know what you think!

425 Degrees

Thanksgiving is coming! It is recognized in the U.S. and Canada primarily but countries like Liberia, Germany, Japan, and Grenada have their own version of Thanksgiving celebration during this time of year. In America, the average household will spend $300 on the entire weekend and about $55.00 on Thanksgiving dinner. All those traditional turkey’s will soon be cooking at 425 degrees before the feast can begin. Something else that tastes great when cooked at 425 degrees is fresh, made-to-order pizza from Papa Murphy’s. Papa Murphy’s prides itself on serving only fresh ingredients and your pizza isn’t made until you order it. And Papa Murphy’s pizza was recently voted #1 for taste and freshness by Consumer Reports. Dale Rogers Training Center’s own Papa Murphy’s Pizza on NW23rd between Penn and Villa is where your family can take a break from turkey and try our fresh Take ‘N Bake pizzas or salads.  When you buy pizza from DRTC Papa Murphy’s you’ll get the same great quality Papa Murphy’s is known for, but you are also giving a hand-up to people with disabilities who are working hard to be contributing members of the community. So if you are thinking about what to eat “before” the holiday or have had too much turkey “after” then give DRTC’s Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N Bake Pizza a try! Now, Gluten Free crust is available!Cowboy_Hero_pull_Cheese_72

From Start to Finish We Create Beautiful

Prism Place has been creating beautiful acrylic awards for over 20 years  with amazing results.  From your design concept to finished product, our team makes Prism Place your one stop shop for acrylic awards, trophies and plaques.

The craftsmen of Prism Place are the real stars. Not only do they master the skills creating wonderful awards, they are always training and developing new skills with every new project.  The skills are very demanding taking a special touch and eye to sand and polish acrylic. Knowing when to stop is the true key. Prism Place houses 6 main craftsman throughout the year. They have the opportunity to train 2-3 apprentices during the off season every year.  This rotation of trainees allows Prism Place to find new talent to add to the multiple facets of their division.

Another facet of Prism Place is their Trophy Department.  This takes a totally different skill set, which allows for many different trainees to experience creating an award.  Assembling trophies is not just throwing pieces together, they must be assembled in a very organized way. This process is more mechanical, with just a flair of an artistic eye.

Plaques are bit more challenging, and to handle this challenge we have been blessed with a wonderful addition this year.  One of our former craftsman has come back to us from the private sector and now is learning new skills in the award trade.   As the skills are mastered, she will advance with her knowledge and is a great help with assisting new trainees.

Living Fresh and Free

Celiac disease is an auto-immune disease that affects 1 out of 100 people worldwide. This disease is receiving more recognition by the food industry as they become aware of those who cannot digest wheat-based products. Those suffering from celiac disease must avoid these products or their bodies immune response attacks the small intestine. If this occurs too often then the body loses its ability to absorb nutrients into the body. Untreated celiac disease can lead to other autoimmune disorders like Type 1 diabetes, MS, infertility and miscarriage among others. The only treatment for this is a lifelong adherence to a strict gluten-free diet. Meals must be prepared away from gluten-based products because even minimal exposure to those products can trigger an attack.

Many restaurants are now offering gluten-free alternatives to their traditional menus. This includes DRTC’s Papa Murphy’s location. Papa Murphy’s Take ‘N Bake Pizza offers new, medium-sized, gluten-free pizza crust for those who choose gluten-free alternatives. Papa Murphy’s was recently selected as #1 by Consumer Reports in the categories of food, value, staff and speed over other pizza chains. The pizza crust is a result of an agreement between Papa Murphy’s and Udi’s Gluten Free. Udi’s gluten-free crusts are lightly dusted with rice flour and can be baked or grilled.

DRTC’s Papa Murphy’s employees are aware of gluten-free issues and prepare each pizza properly to avoid gluten-free products. All toppings are fresh and delicious. And the fresh pie is ready to be taken home to be baked.

Happy Halloween from DRTC and Papa Murphy’s!

DRTC Makes The Grade!

060414carf01472We all knew Dale Rogers Training Center (DRTC) is an exceptional quality community agency that cares about and supports people with disabilities. We all knew the staff and leadership is great with unusually high longevity in their jobs. We all knew how many awards and recognitions DRTC and its staff are singled out for. What we did not know is how DRTC would measure up when the national accreditation team for Community on Accreditation of Rehab Facilities (CARF) compared them to more than 22,000 other CARF certified agencies nationwide and overseas.
But measure up they did, and then some! Out of approximately 800 standards, DRTC received a handful of recommendations it needs to address. Not only were the surveyors, who came from Illinois and Iowa, effusive in the praise,  it appears a three year certification is inevitable on everything from programs, financial tracking, safety, leadership to strategic planning. Three years is the highest level of certification an agency can receive.

What is DRTC most proud of? Executive Director Connie Thrash McGoodwin responds, “The surveyor of the programs component said he has never heard so many positive comments about an agency from its stakeholders.” (Stakeholders include families, funders, business partners, people served, staff and other community entities in the service delivery industry.) “Everyone spoke highly of DRTC’s commitment to its mission and the people they serve and its role in the community.”

Other highlights include praise regarding the wide variety of training and contract work provided by DRTC along with its large job placement program the close relationship between the DRTC and some of its business partners (i.e. Pelco)and its in-house businesses (i.e. Wyman Frame, Prism Place and Papa Murphy’s) created to generate training, jobs and revenue, in addition to the federal contracts.

Last but not least, the board of directors and staff impressed the surveyors with their leadership, preparedness, organization and willingness to take on a rigorous national accreditation. Director of Community Programs, Theresa Flannery, says, “A national accreditation like CARF shows not only our level of quality, but our willingness to go the extra mile for the people we serve.”

At this time, DRTC is the only CARF employment accredited agency in Oklahoma to continue accreditation.
